Texas ended the season with a 33-5 overall record. It’s the most wins since their perfect 34-0 season in 1985-86, when they won the national championship. They made it to the Elite Eight for the third time in four seasons.

Freshman Madison Booker led Texas with 17 points, six rebounds, and five assists. She set a new program record for assists by a freshman with 185 for the season, surpassing Rori Harmon’s previous record of 180.

Shay Holle played 40 minutes for the 12th time this season, scoring 12 points on 6-of-10 shooting. Aaliyah Moore scored 10 points and grabbed nine rebounds, while Taylor Jones contributed 11 points.

NC State led by as many as 18 points in the second quarter, with a 40-22 lead at the 3:02 mark. Gisella Maul’s 3-pointer just before halftime narrowed the gap to 12 at 43-31.

Texas made a 7-0 run in the third quarter, cutting the lead to seven at 51-44 after a basket by Booker. DeYona Gaston’s hook shot brought Texas within six at 54-48 with 1:06 left in the third quarter.

Despite trailing by 11 early in the fourth quarter, the Longhorns reduced the deficit to seven on a Jones free-throw, making it 65-58 with 4:41 remaining. However, Texas couldn’t get closer, and NC State secured a 76-66 victory.

• Shaylee Gonzales ended her career with 2,369 points, playing 73 games over two seasons for Texas. She scored 814 points in a Longhorn uniform and played in 161 collegiate basketball games in her career.

• Khadija Faye played in 64 games for Texas, scoring 371 points and grabbing 282 rebounds.
